Privacy policy
Short version: this website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and carries no trackers. If you buy a licence, we keep your name, email address and licence details so we can send and renew your key. If you joined the pre-launch waitlist, we hold that email address too.
What this website collects
- Your purchase, if you buy a licence. Checkout runs on Lemon Squeezy, which takes your payment. It passes us your name, email address and order details, and we keep those with the licence key we issue, so we can email the key and handle renewals and refunds. We never see your card details.
- Your email address, if you joined the pre-launch waitlist. The form posted directly to Kit (formerly ConvertKit), the email service we use to send the launch announcement and the discount code. Kit stores it on our behalf. Nothing else about you is attached to it.
- Standard server logs. This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare records requests — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, browser user-agent — for delivery, security and abuse prevention. We do not have a dashboard that reads these back per visitor, and we do not use them for marketing.
What it does not collect
- No cookies. This site sets none. There is no consent banner here because there is nothing to consent to.
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Meta or advertising pixel, no session recording, no heat maps.
- Nothing from the error checker. The Windows error checker runs entirely inside your browser. What you type is matched against a list that is already on the page — it is never sent to us or to anyone else, and it is not stored on your device.
Who we share with
Three processors, and no one else. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not run advertising.
- Lemon Squeezy — takes payment for licences and passes us your order details.
- Kit — stores and sends the waitlist email.
- Cloudflare — serves the website, handles its logs, and runs the service that emails your licence key.
How long we keep it
Waitlist addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, which you can do from the footer of any email we send, or by emailing us. When you unsubscribe we remove the address rather than suppress it. Licence records are kept while your licence is active, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to keep sales records. Cloudflare's log retention is set by Cloudflare, not by us.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and, if you are in the UK or EEA, the UK GDPR and GDPR, you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email [email protected] and we will action it.
The software itself
This policy covers this website. Rightek Rescue is a desktop and offline rescue tool that runs on your own machine, including on machines with no working network connection at all. It is a separate product with its own behaviour, and the terms that ship with it govern what it does. As a general principle, and the reason the tool exists: your files stay on your computer. Rescue sends nothing unless you choose to share a report; it does check for its own updates.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. There is no archive of previous versions yet; if that matters to you, ask and we will send you the current one in writing.
