Who builds Rightek Rescue

Rescue is made by Rightek IT Services, a computer repair business in Edmonton, Alberta. It is not a startup's first product — it is the bench work we already do, written down and automated.

Why it exists

Most of what walks into a repair shop with “my computer is dead” is not dead. It is a corrupted registry hive, a missing boot file, a half-applied update, a profile that will not load. The disk is fine. The files are fine. The work to fix it is well understood and largely mechanical.

What the customer is usually offered instead is a wipe and reinstall, because that is faster to perform than a diagnosis. It costs them their programs, their settings, and often their files. We got tired of watching that happen, so we automated the diagnosis and the repair instead.

What we will and won't claim

Repair software attracts extravagant promises. Ours are deliberately narrower than they could be:

  • Repairs keep your programs. When Windows can be fixed in place — which is most faults — nothing about your installed software is touched.
  • Rebuilds do not. If Windows is too damaged and has to be laid down fresh, the new copy has a fresh registry, so programs need reinstalling. Your files are kept, and Rescue gives you the list of what was installed so you know what to reinstall. We say this on the guide page too, before anyone spends money.
  • Some drives are past software. If a disk is clicking or reporting S.M.A.R.T. failures, the honest answer is to stop and get the data off, not to run a repair pass. Rescue flags those warning signs when it sees them.
  • No file recovery tool can promise every file. Deleted data is recoverable until it is overwritten, and nothing can tell you in advance which of those two happened.

The shop behind it

Rightek IT Services does computer and laptop repair, virus removal, data recovery, SSD upgrades, on-site and remote support, and managed IT, across Edmonton, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, Spruce Grove and Stony Plain. If a drive has gone past what any software can reach, that is bench work and we do that too — see contact.

Supported systems

Windows 10 and Windows 11, both the in-Windows app and the offline rescue USB. Windows 8.1 and 7 are not supported. There is no macOS or Linux version.

⚡ Try the free part first

The error checker costs nothing and needs no account. The diagnosis on the rescue USB is also free — it tells you what is actually wrong with your machine before anything is changed, and before you decide whether to buy anything.
